Has anyone out there had a successful career change around the age of 40?

If you're over 35 & someone said, "It's too late for a career change at this point in your life" what would?
you say to this person? Wouldn't it be a bit inappropriate and none of their business NO MATTER WHAT your age is? Right now I do sales rep work and have changed career paths a few different times in my life had a cafe' once, another time online business ... So I mentioned to someone I know about something I am planning on getting into part time relating to my major which I've never done before . I'm not sure why some people feel they are at liberty to tell another person which path " they should" go on in their life especially when you didn't even ask for their opinion in the first place. Not everything has to do with " getting rich" either. Sometimes people just want to develop their talents skills more in a certain area field for personal development and build a reputation in a particular field. Funny ... the person who insulted me not purposely happened to be a male who has presently just made a major career change 3 weeks ago in a completely different field. And he's 10 yrs. older than me. LOL Oh my gosh ...

Gift for my husband's big career change?
My husband bought out a company and his last day of work at his current job is Sunday. After that he takes over the company officially. His employees and colleagues are throwing him a good bye party and we're all pretty close so I'll be there. I want to get him something special. I haven't decided if it should be comical or more meaningful, or both....I'm not sure. Any ideas? It's significant enough because he's been at the same place for 8 years now and in that field for about 12 years. Big change.

I work with young pregnant teens when I started I loved it when I volunteered before I got the job I loved it but now Its so stressful and I don't get paid much and I feel that cant reach these girls they are so disrespectful mean and hateful I have been looking at as a ministry I feel that I can walk away but I want a new job but its a small town there not much here to work at I feel limited and trapped and confused what is you opoion on what I should do?

I am considering changing careers from being a nurse I have been for over 20 years to becoming a teacher. Does anyone have any advice or any knowledge to share if you have done something similar?
