Do American blacks really think success in education & career means acting white?
I'm a uni student in England & there's this black American student who I've become friends with & she was telling me about her community back in America. According to her, most blacks there think that succeeding in school & getting a good well paying job means you're acting white? I found that confusing because does that mean they want to remain poor & uneducated to prove being black? If that is true, then I find it quite sad because since most claim to be " African" American, they would know that success in education & careers is a core African value, my dad is Kenyan. Btw, hope not to offend anyone, i'm just curious..
Jehovah's Witnesses - Further education/Careers/Claiming benefits..?
My niece has recently been baptised as a JW.She is was a very intelligent 21yr old at Uni studying interior design. She met a guy who was a JW and in order to continue their relationship she had to become one. After only 6 months she became baptised. and brainwashed She now gives 50 hrs a week to her organisation and they want her to up it to 70 hrs p w.She dropped out of uni because she was " advised" to.Apparently there is no point furthering her career as the world will soon end and she must serve Jehovah until then. She lives at home with her mum, pays no rent and no contributions to food etc.She has even enquired about signing on..claiming benefits. So the average tax payer will fund her knocking on doors. She is not the only one, lots of them work part time but claim benefits to top up their income while spending their times knocking on doors preaching their " good work" .Why do JWs insist that baptised students shouldn't continue in Higher education and or progressive careers? And should they be " allowed" to work only part time so they have time to spare..and then top up with benefits.Given the economic climate if they take a part time job no one will question them and their right to top up on benefits is automatic..It will be topped up to fit in with minimum government recommendations of income. What do you think of this? Are you happy to pay your taxes to support their preachings?Should they be exempt from working if they are " spreading the word" ?And JW's how can you claim benefits if you're not able to fully commit to a normal average 40hr working week?Tobias...as usual you dance around the question..Surely a career will benefit her later in life when she needs to pay the bills and educate her own kids??And thankfully there isnt a scripture that says we should work 40hrs p w ...but lots of ppl do to get by and pay for houses, kids education, healthcare etc.My point is why should I work and pay taxes for her to bum around all day preaching to ppl?And I have a VERY CLEAR view of this organisation..thankyou.You work for the WT printing firm Tobias, NOT god or any other biblical character Tobias, aka bob, knobby...whatever..I DO have a prob paying taxes to ANYONE who is capable of working full time but choose not to.Its fine to have that choice, lucky for some, I wish I did.If you choose to work p t then choose to live on a p t salary I say.BUT...if JWs claim benefits to top up their wage because they CHOOSE to spend half the working wk preaching I do not agree. You always get very defensive of any question aimed at JW's...and your responses are the least christian like I have seen. And dont correct my spelling...shouldnt you be preaching somewhere, or are you on YA for that reason..tut tut..lazy...go out knocking Ill see you in hell Tobias and we can have a merry dance x xxLeave me alone you stalker..lolTobias..ur boring me now..go away.Unsilenced Lioness...Hi, yes he's off on one again. I think he's obsessing about me and CJ, thinks we are one..lolPorcelain Vessel..Hi..how are you?She does 50 hrs PER WEEK and all that about being unevenly yolked prompted her to join, shes 21, infatuated with this boy...and u dont support me, I work full time and do not claim anything..and i know LOTS of Jws who choose to work part time, and top up on benefits.I have studied with them, I am in love with one of them. I do KNOW what I am taking about but I expect the defending from you all, its almost commendable Tobias...Im a lady you know xxxxx
Does the Catholic Church discourage married women from seeking an education/career?
Catholic Church says that marriage is a sacrament, and that women should be open to having lots of babies because that is participating in Gods creative creation of the world. If women are having lots of babies and childrearing, then practically speaking, that doesnt then leave time to better your brain wth higher education and become smarter etc or have an enjoyable career etc.I read a nun say that people dont have lots children be open to to life cause the child is seen as an inconvenience to the married couple, and she said that they should be not selfish selfish wishes like the woman wanting a career etc and instead should accept Gods will and havethose babies as according to Gods will and Gods gender roles Will,be selfless etc.But frankly that makes me very depressed and miserable. So,if i a woman get married and want to go to Uni,then im being selfish cause thats my own seflish desire instead of Gods ways and im being in rebellion towards God and " seeing children as an inconvenience" " towards my own selfishness" ?I can understand 1 3 children, plus education or hobbbies on the side, but if it has to be heaps of kids as many as come out and no education,no getting to become smarter simply because God made me the female gender, the that makes me feel miserable Catholic Church does not outright speak against discourage married women from seeking education, but its said taught indirectly, because practically isn't that what the outcome would be,if a woman is raising all these children, and being open to life the creation and rasing of children is the pupose of her womans existance, then in factuality practicality theres no time left or emotional or financial resources left for her to then go to Uni and become a scientist or beautician or whatever interests her.So if we all become Catholics and follow it fully, the wouldnt it mean that our society of married women would become less educated and not grow Ie education and sharp brain is " for the men" ?Krazyabouthim no offense but i'd just prefer catholic answers.I currently can not deal with the additional confusion of answers that involve other denoms opinions regarding life issues and gender roles etc it just adds confusion to the mix.So all,i " strictly" prefer Catholic belief based answers. Thanks
Would u rather have a great education/career or a great sex life? I prefer the former. It lasts longer.?
A great education career will get you somewhere in life and make you happy. Sex is temporary pleasure and even if you don't have a partner, you can use toys or hands as stimulation. It's harder to get on in life and make a living without a good job. Orgasms don't pay the bills. WHat do u think? Which do u prefer & why?tbh, sex is overrated imo and i can do w o it but i can't w o a good education.

Do ladies prefer skinny white men with no education/career or overweight men with education and career?
I'm a woman and to me it seems like young women go more for looks then they do status and power. I have noticed that the men you see in positions of power who have money are usually overweight and bald. The men who are skinny are usually working for minimum wage at verizon wireless or at a cubicle. Seriously, look around and tell me what you think. Most of my male doctors are overweight men. The guys with the small jobs like customer service representatives and lanscapers are usually the skinny ones. I'm interested in what the ladies have to say. What's more important to you a white skinny man minimum wage worker or an overweight white man with status and a career?
