Can I caulk before carpet installation to avoid filtration soil?
We just moved and we're having new beige carpeting installed next week. I want to avoid the filtration soil build up from forming along the edges. Would it be okay to use silicone caulk to seal all the perimeters of rooms stairs and where sub floor boards adjoin?

Whats a decent price for carpet installation?
I am finishing my basement now and will be ready for carpet in a few weeks. The basement is 480 sq. ft. and 1 staircase that will also be carpeted. I just want the basic run of the mill carpet. I got a quote from empire last night for $1050. I was wandering if this was a decent price or if there was somewhere else to that might be cheaper. Thanks.

Does this sound like a reasonable price for carpet installation?
My quote for removal, haul away, installation, and padding for a 270 sq ft room 16 step stair case $736is this good?

Empire Today carpet installation?
Has anyone ever used Empire Today or Home Depot for new carpet installation? If so, why or why wouldn't you recommend using them? I'm looking into getting new carpeting for my living room. It's about 240 square feet, and I'm not planning to get anything " fancy." What about Home Depot or a similar service?

Is this a fair price for carpet installation?
I live in the Columbus, OH area. I received a quote to install Mohawk berber carpeting and premium pad in our finished basement. The area is about 200 sq ft, and the price includes removing and disposing of the old carpet and pad. This also includes installing carpet on the stairway. It is a " floating" stairway with steps only, no risers , so each step will be individually wrapped in carpet. Is $815 a fair price for this job?

Carpet Installation for home?
I'm moving in my new home and need to lay down new carpet. The owners before had a dog and didn't do a good job of getting up accidents urine that the dog may have had. It looks as though they tried to get the carpet cleaned, but it didn't come out. I have decided to recarpet the home. The home is about 1780 square feet, I plan to carpet the living room, master bedroom, stairs, hall, bedrm1, bedrm2, and bedrm 3. Of course kitchen and all bathrooms will not need carpet. Does anyone know how much this plan will run me for carpet installation?

Carpet Installation?
Im moving n2 a room w concrete floor. I cant build up a frame on it, cant put down carpet glue cuz I dont want it 2b difficult to remove even if u pull up the carpet, the glue would be stuck to ground , & the carpet tape I am seeing online is heat activated but even that would probably leave a residue on the ground and I dont have anything to heat it with. Obviously cant nail it because its concrete. My question is if I just lay down the carpet would my furniture be enough to hold it down without it rolling up on edges in the places where the furniture isnt at?I will be putting a baseboard on the bottom of my walls which will hold donw the carpet a lil bit, but is there any other alternative to holding down the carpet securely without doing something that would leave something behind on the floor?Should I put padding down underneath? My roommate n next room has a area rug down and its not to cold n there. If I use area rug, id still ahve to cut it & its more $$Samm Wouldnt that make my carpet stick up around the edge and make it so I couldnt put anything on the inch of floor closest to the wall? Also, wouldnt I be able to feel through the carpet the little pokey things stabbing my feet if I didnt use padding? This is another option though that no one has suggested, and I would use it if it werent going to raise the edge of the carpet off the ground...I'll be living in a 9x11 minus a 2x3 space in the corner and every little inch counts. On my concrete walls I put up 1x1 strips of wood so I could screw in my sheetrock. My budget is incredibly low, btw. Oh, and Im anti berber carpet this is for a bedroom and want ppl to beable to sit on the floor since I dont have enough room for chairs. Wish they had that stuff in something other then berber, darn.

Carpet installation........?
I am going to install some carpeting in my home and I was wondering if 2 pads could be put underneath the carpet roll instead of 1. I know they sell different 'weights' of the pad, but i wanted the thickest possible pad so that it can be very cushy. So, is it possible? I am interested in knowing what is the best option for what I am looking to do. Anyone with carpeting knowledge...
