What are ways to save money when buying horse tack and stuff?
I have the money for a horses tack and other stuff but with the economy how it is I would still like to save and get good things. I was looking at buying grooming stuff and 15 dollars for a body brush is pretty expensive. so I figured I can buy just a normal human hair brush and comb for my horses mane and tail and just go to Walmart garden section and get buckets. ect and I don't want to take short cuts with actual riding tack because quality needs to be the best there for a happy horse but what are other horse gear I can save money by getting something that works the same even though it isn't labeled as a horse thingAlso when I go to pick out tack from my local tack shop. should I just go look around and then ask if I can bring my horse in to see what fits? or should I call up now and ask if I can set up a time to see what saddles, ect fit?

For horse tack does price = quality ?
looking at some websites and local tack stores some of it is really expensive. anyways to tell if something is worth the money ? expecally leather show tack. i don't want to pay a bunch for something that will just fall apart like my friends have had happen.and good quality fair priced websites ? I look at tack on dover but thats the only website that i've heard 90 % good stuff about.any othersalso dover is mostly english, and good quality fair priced western tack sites ?also my tractor supplie the only close one is HORRIBLY stocked on horse stuff. so thats out. should I ask one of my good friends who is pretty good at looking for falts to help me sort through the crap and cheep " gold" ebay ? supply
How to make my own horse tack?
Hi guys can anyone give me an idea on how to start making my own horse stuff?Like blankets day sheet & stable rugs etc , numnah's saddle pads , halters, pretty patterned brow bands, etc etc.... its for myself as to keep cost of buying this equipment down.Would a normal, everyday sewing machine be able to handle making things like horse blankets and saddle pads? Any links, ideas or advice is MUCH appreciated

is there a website out there that offers very affordable yet quality items? I need a saddle stand that actually stands and isn't on a wall and the cheapest I can find is $25 I can't spend that much after my $500 saddle. Please help me I've already tried places like Amazon and Ebay

Buying horse tack? What do I need?
Hi so I'm gettin a horse. I need to know what kind of grooming tack I need. I also need to know what type of horse tack I need. I think we have a file and clippers. I won't need mats for the horse either. I think we have a halter and bridle that might fit him. I ride western. I have never tried english. Thanks. Also I have a saddle blanket from my aunt coming. If anyone know of a full set bag on amazon please let me know.This is my first horse. I had a horse when I was little. My mom is mad at me and won't let me have any of her old tack or tell me what is in it. I've got over a week and we are going to get get the tack tomorrow. I live with my grandparents they haven't had horses for a while now. I have plenty of ranchers in town if I need advice. My grandparents have tooken care of horses before. They got rid of the supplies. I have some questions about horses/tack?
I am a teenager. I'm looking to get my first horse soon. What I'm looking to do with the horse is trail ride, ride around the property, and maybe eventually enter it in small 4 H shows. I've had really intense back surgery so I need a typically nicely tempered breed. Don't tell me it depends on the horse, because I know that, but I also know that specific breeds are known to be more calm than others.So these are my questions 1. What breed is most suitable to what I want to do with it?2. What breed is typically cheapest? Don't tell me horses can't be cheap or that I shouldn't get a horse if I can't keep it. But I want to spend as little money as possible.3. Similar but different question What breed is cheapest to keep? As in how much I have to pay per year.4. Should I get a Western or English saddle based on what I want to do?5. Which brand is best for that type of saddle? It doesn't matter if I get it new or used, but I typically don't want to spend $1000 on a saddle.6. How do you know what size of a saddle you should get?7. What are the things I need to get for a horse? Don't worry, me being a dummy on the subject of horses, I'm not getting one for a few years, but I promised my parents I would do the research. Now, I know that I should get the following metal rubber curry comb, mane tail brush, comb, brush, sweat scraper squeegee, and a hoof pick brush. That's about all I know, besides the saddle. HELP? And how much would all of this be approximately if I got them on like horse.com or horseloverz.com? Are there any other helpful websites that I should look for?8. What things can I buy before I get the horse, just to show my parents I'm interested?9. There is a horse website that asks the seller to rate the temperament out of ten. Is one good tempered or is it bad tempered? So, in other words, should I look for a low number or a high number?10. Last one, I promise I just want to know what colors would look good with a certain color horse? Like for a brown horse, what color saddle should I get? Or a black one? Or white?
