Do light fixtures with built in outlets still exist?
We have recently purchased a home built in 1964. Something I didn't even realize until after the purchase is that homes built back then have NO outlets in the bathroom. The only outlet is part of the light fixture above the mirror. We are wanting to replace this light fixture, but don't want to lose the only plug in the bathroom. Does anyone know if they still make light fixtures like this? I have looked online but I haven't found anything. Thanks

How big should my light fixture be?
I need to know what size my light fixture should be over a 6'x4' island? And how I should determine that for future reference? Just one fixture.

How long do you need to let a light fixture dry out?
My bathroom was flooded by my 4 year old and came though the kitchen ceiling light.

IS IT OK to put 2 different wattage bulbs in a two socket outdoor light fixture?
this is an outdoor light fixture on a pole that takes two small candle shaped chandelier bulbs. One bulb will shine brighter. One bulb is 15 watts the other 25 watts. 2 25 watts will be too bright versus a 15watt next to a 25 watt, but I don't know if this not a good idea to have two bulbs of different wattage in the same light circuit.

Replaced ceiling fan w/ regular light fixture and it won't turn off now?
Yesterday, I replaced the old ceiling fan light combo in my bedroom with a standard ceiling light fixture. I did not replace or alter the wall switch in any way. As far as wiring, I merely connected the black from the box to the black of the fixture, the white from the box to the white of the fixture and the ground green from the box to the green of the fixture. I also put a wire nut on the red from the box, so that it didn't touch anything else. Upon flipping the breaker, the light was on, but when I flip the wall switch, it does not affect the light. It stays on regardless. I tried disconnecting the two blacks, and replacing the black from the box with the red from the box and of course putting a wire nut on the now exposed black from the box . It made no difference. Same result. The wall switch still has no effect. All connections are solid and wire nutted together. I'm totally stumped. Help Smokey Either I'm misunderstanding you, or you didn't read my question entirely. I've already tried the red wire from the ceiling to the black wire on the box. This made no difference.I just opened the wall switch and am looking at it. The way it's wired is it has the ground copper on the screw. There is a red wire coming from the wall that is currently connected to the top screw. There is a black wire that is connected to the bottom screw. What should I change?

How to wire a light fixture from old wiring to new tried light works but cant turn off at switch?

Are all fluorescent light fixtures like this..?
..or is it just this one? This is a large fluorescent light fixture with four bulbs. My goal is to remove at least two of them since it feels like being at WalMart in here. way too bright and hideous When I jiggle or remove one or more of the bulbs, the entire thing goes out. I looked for lower wattage fluorescent bulbs but no luck. The colored gels for bulbs just look strange. Is there a way to keep only one bulb on and 86 the other three? Thanks.

Trying to install ceiling light fixture. what am i doing wrong?
Ok, i have power from service panel, at the light Hot wire goes to switch leg, neutral goes to fixture. Black wire from switch goes back to fixture. When i hook up light nothing happens. But if i connect white wire from fixture to ground, the light and switch works. What the hell is wrong. The light that was there was working until the other day. The upstairs neighbor blew a house and kept shutting off my power. The third time he did it the original fixture no longer worked. Any suggestions, im baffled.

How do i install my new light fixture?
I currently have a plastic dimmer switch which has two wires black and red running into the switch and a copper wire running into a screw on the mounting bracket. However my new light switch is metal and a has a connector for the earth wire. Do i have to unscrew the copper wire and put it into the switch or leave it where it is?

I have what looks to be a large glass light fixture blown into a metal cage. What is it?
I have a picture that i will happily email if you are interested. I have 3 different fixtures and am really just wondering if they really are light fixtures, what era they are from, and if they are worth anything as antiques. Thanks

Is there a way to eliminate the pull chain element of a ceiling light fixture?
I have a pull chain light bulb fixture in my closet and I am wanting some way of turning the light on and off with out having to use the pull chain. I was thinking about some sort of a " clapper" like device but all the one I can find need a wall outlet. Has anyone seen on that screws into where the lightbulb goes or something like that? Is there some way to control this light without cutting the wall to install a light switch and new light fixture?

How do I get this light fixture back together?
It's a medicine cabinet with four vanity light bulbs in a row along the top. One burned out. Unscrewed it to replace it, and now I cannot get the thing back together. There's a white plastic piece with the two wires going to it, that the bulb screws into, and there is a large, round metal ring, with one notch in it, behind that, as if the white piece is supposed to be screwed into it. However, both are just hanging loose inside the frame. What do I do to put this back together? There's no panel I can take off anywhere, and I cannot hold that metal ring still and try to screw the assembly into it, since there is no room for my fingers.I can't do it that way. The metal ring is behind the socket, inside the compartment. There is another ring that goes on the outside edge of the socket, that isn't the problem. I need to get the inner ring back on the socket part?
