Reliable treadmill vs elliptical information

Treadmill vs elliptical?
ok i know the elliptical burns more calories so the treadmill can actually suck because of having to do twice the effort for less of the calories. but im still going to buy the treadmill because i want to increase my cardio i just want to know about my calorie burn as well.I'm 5'8 about 170 pounds. Can someone narrow it down on how many calories i can burn in about an hour or so?

Treadmill vs elliptical workout ?
When I workout on the treadmill I usually do an interval workout where I walk at 3.5 for a minute and the run at 6 or 7 for 2 minutes and alternate every few minutes or so. When I do that after the cool down it takes 25 minutes and I burn about 170 calories. When I use the elliptical I go for 30 minutes and do at least 300 calories. The treadmill makes me feel like I really worked out and makes me sweat and feel like I got a good workout but I burn more calories on an elliptical and it's not as hard. With that being said, I am curious as to which overall is a better workout for being fit and losing weight? I burn almost twice as many calories on the elliptical but work much harder to burn half that on the treadmill.

Which is better? Treadmill vs. Elliptical?
For example, if I walk for 1 hour on a treadmill keeping my heart rate between 150 and 165 nearly the whole hour, is that the better than, the same as, or worse than going the same distance on an Elliptical in less time.I hope that makes sense I'm asking in terms of getting a good cardio workout in.Age 32, weight not saying but I am overweight.

Treadmill vs. Elliptical?
It seems as though the Elliptical machine burns more calories than the treadmill. Any thoughts experience on this?
